Reports deal with an accountant's examination of Auditor of Public Accounts Orville E. Hodge's records, including property and securities held by the Auditor; vouchers and warrants; furniture and equipment; appropriations irregularities; and transactions in a memorandum bank account (known as the brown envelope account). File includes incoming correspondence from the Auditor concerning the records examination; state agency, department, university and commission (including the Illinois Emergency Relief Commission, 1940-1941) financial administration; and Illinois and other state fair administration. Files also includes operating budgets for various state departments; Shawneetown Regional Port District special report (1968); Department of Audits survey (1964); and a comparative statement on the commission's administrative and project payroll which shows number of employees, monthly salary rate, and average monthly salary rate per employee (July 1939 - February 1941).
